Steel cut and welded to the dimension on site

Mild steel and stainless steel work supporting the glazing, railing and cladding packages, fabricated to exact surveyed dimensions.

Behind most glazing and cladding is steel that nobody sees. Support frames, brackets, sub-structure and the connections that transfer load back into the building — none of it is visible in the finished job, and all of it decides whether the finished job performs.

H.V. Enterprises fabricates mild steel and stainless steel work in support of its own glazing, railing and cladding packages, as well as exposed steelwork where the steel is the finish. Members are cut and welded to surveyed dimensions rather than nominal ones, which is what allows a bracket to land where the survey says the fixing has to go.

Where it is used

  • Support frames and sub-structure for glazing and cladding
  • Brackets, cleats and connection details
  • Structural steel for canopies and skylights
  • Exposed architectural steelwork and stainless trim
  • Railing sub-structure and posts

What decides the result

Fabricate to survey
Steel made to the drawing has to be adjusted on site; steel made to the survey does not. Fabricating from measured dimensions is what removes cutting and re-welding at height.
Grade and environment
Mild steel needs a protective system suited to where it sits. Stainless grade is chosen against exposure. Both decisions are made per location, because an external coastal application and an internal one are not the same problem.
Weld quality and finish
On exposed steelwork the weld is part of the finish and is dressed accordingly. On concealed steel the weld only has to carry load — so effort goes where it is actually seen or actually stressed.
Coordination with the system above
Support steel exists to carry a facade, railing or cladding system. Fabricating it in the same shop as that system is what keeps the two dimensionally compatible.
